Choosing a blockchain broker is like choosing which bank to put your money in, so it takes a lot of research to find a reputable company. Binance – the world’s leading blockchain ecosystem and the most sought-after exchange in Brazil – chose Latam Gateway to be its payments partner in Latin America in June 2022. Latam Gateway is one of the few companies that have authorization from the Central Bank (BC) to act as a payment institution.
Latam Gateway currently has more than 200 employees around the world and provides payment services to global conglomerates in various sectors. Among them e-commerce, videogames and payment aggregators.
Despite being a B2B company, it is important to know that there is a Brazilian company behind our transactions, isn’t it? Latam Gateway’s headquarters are in Maringá, Paraná, and service support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Although the history of the founders began with the creation of Boa Compra, to serve the games market, 15 years ago, today Latam Gateway provides payment services in Latin America for global companies from different sectors and the largest publishers of electronic games in the world.
The group brings innovation in its DNA. Combining more than a decade of expertise in the payments market with blockchain technology, it was founded to meet this new demand in the global financial market: decentralized payment. Blockchain is a very new technology, but the company already offers a variety of solutions including payments, remittances, digital identity, and asset tokenization.
Latam Gateway is a leading company in blockchain solutions in Latin America that serves companies by monetizing products or services in an easy way, with instant payment in local currency, without the need for a bank.
Transactions are made by PIX, “boleto” express, digital wallets, credit card, lottery pec, bank deposit, bank transfer or TED.
Over 15 Years of History
At the age of 19, a group of gamers from Maringá used the solution to their problem to open a small company, which later became one of the most successful game payment companies in our region.
They were University students that enjoyed playing Tibia in their spare time, but didn’t have an international credit card to buy the game items they wanted. From this problem came the idea of convincing international game publishers to accept “boleto”, a bank transaction that only exists in Brazil.
With their backpacks on their backs, they went to the biggest video game industry event in Europe, Gamescom, and from there they returned with their first client. The business started small and expanded until the boletos were accepted by Steam, the largest and most popular online game platform in the world, owned by Valve.
The Web3 Company
Incorporating this DNA of innovation, Latam Gateway molds itself to the new era of Web3, where cryptocurrencies and NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are beginning to become popular. On June 24, 2022, it became the exclusive payments partner of Binance, the largest global infrastructure provider for the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Upon announcing the partnership, Binance put on its blog that “Brazil is an extremely relevant market for the company and that it will continue to invest and expand services for local users, as well as contributing to the development of the blockchain and crypto ecosystem in the country”.

Latam Gateway approved by the Central Bank
It’s worth mentioning that Latam Gateway is one of the few companies authorized by the Central Bank (BC) to act as a payment institution, as per the order in the “Diário Oficial da União” (the official journal of the Brazilian state) of May 19, 2023.
The license grants Latam Gateway permission to operate as an issuer of electronic money, which frees up prepaid payment account management, according to BC. The Ripio and Mercado Bitcoin brokerages are among those that have already requested authorization from payment institutions to the BC, but have not yet been able to do so.
